Darrow Overcomes Weather and Mount
Eric Darrow became the 11th driver of the 2010 Black Hills Mini Sprint Tour season to win a 19 car feature event Saturday evening, overcoming threatening weather, showers, wind, and the always hard-charging #39 machine of Jeff Mount. Darrow #8D has had some hard luck this season, almost winning a couple of main events, but this time he would not be denied. Jeff Mount finished 2nd, Larry "the Outlaw" Reub #59 finished 3rd, Doug McIntosh #23 ended up 4th and the impressive rookie Adam Hibbard took home 5th. Sept 25th will be the next and last race of the 2010 season and will decide the point championship in a very tight battle for 1st.
Nice Gift to the RAACE Foundation
In conjunction with Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Dupree, SD and Mercy Tree, local mini sprint racer, Doug Napier raised $618.00 for the RAACE Foundation, (Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere) a national foundation that brings awareness to child abuse. " I have always enjoyed racing, but it is so nice to race for something I strongly believe in, something larger than myself, and if what I enjoy doing can somehow change a life, I am all in!" said Doug who has represented the RAACE Foundation with his race car for over 2 years.
The RAACE Foundation is dedicated to eliminating the epidemic of child sexual abuse by raising public awareness. It was created in 2004 by Baltimore businessman Kenneth Smith. In the years prior, Kenneth began to recognize the need for an organization dedicated to raising public awareness of child sexual abuse after becoming involved with several Baltimore area child abuse charities.
Since that time The RAACE Foundation has made a lot of noise. RAACE volunteers and associates have spoken one on one with thousands of racing fans, distributed hundreds of thousands of pieces of awareness materials, and made countless impressions through media outlets and at racing events across the country. But with the support of individuals and corporations The RAACE Foundation will continue to do more, because until every child is safe from abuse, Our Race Has No Finish Line!
